Remembering Pixie
Pixie had a way of making everyone around her feel loved, which is exactly what you'd expect from a dog who spent seventeen years perfecting the art of devotion. As a Chihuahua, she carried that breed's trademark courage in her tiny frame, but what really defined her was her gentle spirit. She moved through the world with a quiet confidence, always ready to greet a friend—whether human or fellow dog—with genuine warmth. Those big, expressive eyes seemed to see straight into your heart, and she had a gift for knowing exactly when someone needed her close.
Pixie was our first baby together, and in ways we didn't fully understand at the time, she completed our family. She was there before everything else, a constant through all the changes and chapters of our lives. Her loyalty wasn't the showy kind—it was quiet and steady, the way she'd position herself near you on the couch, or how she'd follow you from room to room just to be in the same space. She loved belly rubs with the enthusiasm of a dog ten times her size, and playtime with other dogs brought out a playfulness that reminded us she had a big personality packed into that small frame. But mostly, Pixie was about cuddles. She understood that sometimes the greatest gift you can give is simply being present, being soft, being there.
Seventeen years is a long time to share your life with someone, and Pixie used every single one of those years to show us what unconditional love looks like. She wasn't flashy or demanding—she was just steady, gentle Pixie, asking for nothing more than to be near the people she loved. As we say goodbye on this final day of the year, we're grateful for every belly rub, every nap shared, every quiet moment that felt like everything. She didn't just live with us; she taught us how to love better. Pixie, you were our first, and you'll always be our heart.
