Remembering Lila
✨My sweet, loyal beautiful babygirl Lila, crossed over the glorious, Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, August 8 in Cranford, New Jersey. She went to Heaven peacefully holding onto my hand and hugging her favorite toy, “Philly.” I know she ran right to her beloved Pop Pop Lenny, looking for a piece of butcher cut Land O’ Lakes yellow cheese, a treat and a huge hug and kiss. Without a doubt, my grandmother “GE” will be cooking and feeding her only the best food. She is reunited with a whole bunch of people who loved her, others who will be happy to meet her and a bunch of dogs & cats she probably won’t acknowledge.
✨Lila was allegedly born somewhere in Missouri on January 9, 2009 and she blessed and changed our lives 8 weeks later. I met Lila (who didn’t have a name for a few days until her Father chose “Lila” at my soon to be husband Jay’s “No Dogs Allowed” apartment in Rahway. She was about 3lbs, sitting on an electric cord, drinking some water. It was love at first sight. A few days before Lila made her supposed trip to Jersey, Jay let me know “he sorta bought a dog, a Morkie.” Of course, I was a bit surprised at this, but Jay is extremely compulsive so I can’t say I was completely shocked. After some yelling and a few WTF’s, I had to google what the hell a Morkie was! I never really cared if I ever had a dog and it wasn’t something I ever thought of, but I’m so thankful that Jay decided to go off the rails with this decision!
✨My girl enjoyed room temperature filtered water, soft treats, hot oven roaster chicken, ONLY wet dog food, pizza crust, real butcher cut cheese and meat. She would smack someone in their leg if they didn’t share a piece of chicken and patiently stare at you until you gave her a piece. She never barked, just stared you down. (She must have learned that from her Mom) She loved basking in the sunlight and always found the perfect ray of sun to lay in, didn’t matter if it was on the deck or the front door. (Another trait learned from me) Lila’s favorite spot to be was on top of the couch where she could catch a few naps, stare at the people walking by and pick and choose when she would bark. Lila had the biggest ears, her “satellites”, but her heart was even bigger. She probably watched more Lifetime movies than most dogs and definitely bet on football way too much. She represented her home state by rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.
✨Lila, you were the most loyal, kindhearted, easygoing Little Angel there ever was. You saw Mom & Dad get married. A few moves until we found our forever home. The three of us were the happiest ever! Friday night PT’s! We know you will still be tapping the bottle 😜
You were right by our side through thick & thin, happy & sad.
Hurricanes, floods, snow storms, illnesses, lockdowns, job changes, births and deaths, there you were, kissing every tear away and twirling around like a ballerina for every celebration.
✨Little Baby, you were so brave and strong the last few years. After being diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease in 11/2019 and then Congestive Heart Failure in 06/2022, you defied the odds and kept on fighting. I know taking numerous pills six times a day wasn’t fun for you, but you did it. Now, you are pill free and I know, just living your best life. I smile every time I look up to the sky because I know you are there, wagging your tail and looking right back 💜 Until you are back at the Rainbow Bridge to greet me my Sweet Lila, I will miss you every single day of my life.
