Remembering Cali Mcbride
Cali had a way of making everyone around her feel like they mattered. For twenty-two years, she moved through our home with quiet confidence, the kind of presence that didn't demand attention but somehow made sure she got exactly what she needed. Tabbies are known for their intelligence and strong personalities, and Cali embodied both—she seemed to understand the rhythms of your household in a way that went beyond typical cat awareness. Her loyalty was the kind that showed itself in small, consistent ways: always there, always watching, always ready to be part of whatever was happening.
What made Cali truly special was her gentle strength. She was protective of her family in the most understated way, alert to changes and shifts in the home's energy. But beneath that watchfulness was a cat who craved connection. She loved attention on her own terms, and when she decided it was time for affection, she gave it fully. Her independence never got in the way of her cuddles—she just preferred to choose the moment. And she had this beautiful maternal instinct that extended even to the other cats in your home. She'd wait patiently for them to eat first, a small act that revealed her generous heart. She was a protector not just of people, but of her feline family too.
The simple things brought her the most joy: long afternoons of sunbathing in her favorite spots, endless naps in cozy corners, and the quiet companionship of being near the people she loved. Cali didn't need grand gestures or constant entertainment. She understood that a life well-lived was one filled with warmth, loyalty, and the comfort of being home.
Twenty-two years is a beautiful, full life, and Cali lived every bit of it with grace. The house will feel different without her steady presence, but the love she gave and the loyalty she showed will stay with you always. She was exactly the cat our family needed.
