Remembering Anderson
Anderson Cooper jumped out the woods in 2010 or 2011 and his mom's attention. She was in love immediately. The feeling however, was not mutual as he was mostly feral. Her love was relentless though, most memorable shown by wearing a heavy winter coat in oven mitts just to carry him to shelter before and upcoming storm. Eventually he relented and loved her back and became the sweetest house cat you could ever meet, but make no mistake, out of everyone in the house- big dogs, puppies, cats, humans!- he was undoubtedly in charge. He greeted everyone at the door and was extremely talkative with his funny meow. He accepted his dad, upgrading him from "step dad" to Dad eventually. He even welcomed a kitten sister and accepted all the chaos that came with her. He was known for being a flight risk, escaping through open doors and windows, or even the specially made enclosure for him. He worried his mom sick, but he always came home.
He kept his mom company while she grieved his brother Wilson and sat with her while she was sick and pregnant with twins. He held on so long trying to meet the babies, but unfortunately, passed just 17 days before they were born. His parents miss him while they are up in the middle of the night taking care of them; they're sure he would've made the best late night companion.
He was a happy boy until the very end, even purring peacefully as he passed. Anderson is a beautiful example of how much unrelenting love can change someone.
You did so good. You were so strong. We can't wait to see you again one day and hear your funny voice.
